Woman Dead in Shooting at Delta Maintenance Facility
News

ATLANTA -- A woman who authorities believe was looking for a Delta Air Lines employee outside a maintenance facility near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday.

Clayton Police Lt. Tina Daniel says police believe the woman sought to confront a Delta employee at the Delta Technical Operations Center. She says the woman was stopped by police at a security checkpoint outside the facility, where workers maintain Delta's fleet.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead says GBI is investigating. Authorities said they found that the woman had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Daniel would not describe the relationship between the woman and the Delta employee. It was unclear Monday afternoon if the woman was armed.

In a statement, Delta says no Delta employees were injured.

The facility is down the road from the main entrance to Delta's headquarters.
