CASTING CALL | New J.J. Abrams filming in Atlanta

Sandy Springs -  Movie Extras needed this weekend!  Tammy Smith Casting will be at the Atlanta Marriott - Perimeter Center on Saturday and Sunday  holding an open casting call for an upcoming Warner Bros/NBC TV project.

All ethnicities and genders (over 18)  are welcome and needed.

Buzz on the streets is that this project is for the new J.J. Abrams project entitiled "Revolution" which will be shot here in the metro Atlanta area. Accoding to one of the Hollywood blogs, Revolution is an, " intense action drama which looks at a group of people trying to find their loved ones and stay alive in a world where there are no longer any forms of energy."

Atlanta - Award-winning actor and director Kim Fields leads a great cast in the new inspirational drama, A Cross To Bear, about a "young girl's long road to redemption."  Kim Fields is joined by Mailinda Williams, Jackie Long, Angie Stone, Kenny Lattimore and more.  

Atlanta has many ties into this film including the fact that A Cross To Bear is a Nina Holiday Production which is the brainchild of Atlanta residents Terri Vaughn (also proprietor of the Green Room in Buckhead) and Cas Sigers.  The 2 founded their company in 2005 and continue to produce a variety of different projects.

Feb 15, 2011 (Atlanta, GA) – This weekend in Atlanta, Black History Month anticipates the teachings of a world-renowned drum master. Ghana-born djembe and dunun master drummer Weedie Braimah will teach a drum workshop at BNM Studio located 409 Mead Road Decatur, GA 30030.  Joined by New Orleans native  and dancer, Christan Carter, expect to learn how the dance movements correspond with high-energy West Africa drumming techniques.

Atlanta - Just days away from the 53rd annual Grammy Award show, Decatur native and hip-hop star, B.o.B, stopped into our 11Alive studios to once again share his thoughts and music with his hometown city.  B.o.B was a guest on 11Alive nearly 4 years ago before his 1st album sold thousands of copies and before everyone knew his name.

On this visit he is on the brink of releasing his sophomore album, Strange Clouds, and is excited about the possibilities.  Two singles have already been released/leaked, including 'Strange Clouds' featuring Lil' Wayne and 'Play your Guitar' featuring Andre 3000.  The third single, is what B.o.B told us feels like his "real single".  The new song is called 'So Good' and releases on February 14th.

Hapeville - (submitted by Atlanta Airport)  To celebrate Black History Month, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport presents “Visions of the Civil Rights Movement and America Today,” a collection of students’ impressions of the people, events and legacy of the civil rights movement in America.

The Atrium Gallery exhibit — presented in partnership with the City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Atlanta Public Schools — features pieces chosen from winning entries of “The Dream” Art Contest, a citywide event designed to foster an appreciation for the relevance of history and to demonstrate the importance of the arts in education and daily life.

The collection features original artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade and in after-school art programs in metro Atlanta.
