ATLANTA -- Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has signed restaurant and retail contracts for the city's busy airport.

Reed's office says the signing of the contracts Monday allows the construction of food and beverage concessions in the new international terminal to proceed for a spring opening.

Reed signed the contracts shortly after a Fulton County Superior Court judge denied a request for an injunction filed by four losing bidders to keep the city from signing the airport concessions contracts. Judge Cynthia Wright also prodded the city to offer more to help losing bidders.

The losing bidders had argued that the mayor signing the contracts would make it harder for them to get a fair appeal hearing.
