College Park man gets life for tattoo parlor shooting

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to life plus 60 years in prison for shooting two people, one fatally, with an assault rifle.

John "Hot Boy" Blackmon of College Park was found guilty Tuesday of felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery and weapons offenses.

According to information presented in court, on Aug. 25, 2013, Blackmon gunned down two people in the parking lot of Infamous Tattoos on Old National Highway.

Witnesses told police that Blackmon was sitting in the back of an SUV that pulled into the tattoo parlor's parking lot alongside a Chevrolet Impala with two men inside. Blackmon fired an assault rifle into the Impala.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Each year during the first full week in May, the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) work to raise awareness of arson and provide individuals with strategies to combat it in their community. This year, Arson Awareness Week is May 4-10 and focuses on vehicle arson.

“Vehicle arson is a very serious matter,” said Chief Larry Few, Director of the Fulton County Fire Rescue Department. “The motivations behind the burning of vehicles are similar to those of other types of arson crimes. Fulton residents should learn ways they can prevent vehicle arson from happening to them.”

Motivations behind vehicle arson include, revenge, concealing another crime, excitement, insurance fraud/arson for profit and vandalism.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Two suspects in a Sunday morning shooting in Clayton County have turned themselves in to police.

According to the Clayton County Police Department, Justin McCoy, 20, allegedly shot a man several times with a rifle at 5857 San Gabriel Lane at around 1:30 a.m. He then allegedly fled in a black Lexus with pink letters in the back window and an unknown Alabama license plate driven by 18-year-old Keyara Wallace.

Clayton County Police Officer Eddie Soto said both suspects turned themselves in to the Clayton County Jail later Sunday.

UNION CITY, Ga. -- A man accused of murdering a woman in a Union City hotel earlier this month has been arrested.

Irwin Clint Dresbach, 33, was taken into custody Monday night at a motel on Virginia Avenue near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

U.S. Marshals Supervisory Inspector Jim Joyner said information from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office led agents to the motel. Dresbach was armed when marshals arrived; after a brief standoff and struggle with arresting officers, he was taken away.

DECATUR, Ga. -- An elementary school principal is among 14 people the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested in a sting operation targeting suspected child predators.

Dr. John McGill, principal of Mt. Carmel Elementary in Douglasville, is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.  He has been suspended from his position. He is due in court for his first appearance Tuesday.

11Alive's Blayne Alexander reports that the Douglas County School System superintendent announced on Monday that Dr. Sandra Williams will serve as interim principal of the school effective March 10. Williams is a retired former principal of the school. The central office will handle administrative duties until Williams arrives.

ATLANTA -- A convicted pimp has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for prostituting two teenage runaways.

Derek Spencer, 34, was found guilty Thursday on charges of human trafficking, statutory rape, aggravated child molestation, pimping, pandering, sexual exploitation of children and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to information presented in Fulton County court, Spencer met the 14-year-old victims at a southwest Atlanta convenience store in October 2012 and invited them back to his Fletcher Street home.

ATLANTA -- Local rapper Andrae Wilson has been charged with altering the VINs of stolen cars.

Wilson, who goes by the name Lil Hot, faces a number of charges, including theft by receiving, identity fraud, driving on a suspended license and possession of a vehicle with an altered VIN.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said Wilson, 31, was arrested Monday at a house on Stone Road in southwest Atlanta.

The rapper was in possession of a Ford F-150 with an altered VIN, a Chevrolet Avalanche with an altered VIN, a Dodge Charger reported stolen from the city of Atlanta and a Bentley that was carjacked in College Park last year, according to Jones. Wilson also had the keys to both the Ford and the Bentley.
