Hit-and-run victim in critical condition

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. (WXIA) -- Police were searching for the driver of a stolen Dodge Ram pick-up after a couple of crashes along Old National Highway in College Park and south Fulton County Monday evening that left at least one person in critical condition.

Shortly after 8 p.m., Fulton County dispatchers received word from College Park Police about a stolen truck they had spotted on Old National Highway. Moments later, it was believed the truck struck an adult female pedestrian near the intersection of Old National Highway and Camelot Drive.

According to Kay Lester with the Fulton County Police Department, the truck continued southward on Old National until it became involved in an accident at the intersection of Old National Highway and Bethsaida Road. Individuals from the truck attempted to flee, though one of them was held by a citizen at that location until authorities could arrive. That person was released with no charges filed, Lester said.

The 29-year-old woman struck at Camelot Drive was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta in critical condition. Two additional patients from the accident at Old National and Bethsaida were also taken to Grady, and according to authorities, both received non-life-threatening injuries.
