Suspect recovering after officer-involved shooting

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- A robbery suspect is recovering in the hospital after being shot by a College Park police officer early Monday morning.

College park Police Chief Kieth Meadows said two officers were flagged down in the area of 2450 Old National Parkway, near the Baymont Inn and were advised that they had been robbed by three men.

The officers spotted three men and tried to apprehend  them. That's when they say shots were fired by the officers and one suspect was hit in the arm and leg with what are believed to be non-life threatening wounds.

Neither the officers involved, nor the other two suspects were injured.

The suspect who was shot was transported to the hospital, the other two were taken into custody.

College Park police will investigate the armed robbery, while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will take over the investigation of the officer-involved shooting.
