College Park Ward II Councilman Joe Carn visits the White House | People
College Park, Ga. -- College Park Ward II Councilman Joe Carn was invited to Washington, DC to attend a special briefing June 17th at the White House, followed by a reception hosted by President Barak Obama himself. The reception honoredYoung Elected Officials from across the country.
Carn attended the 2011 YEO National Conference held in Washington June 2-5. During the conference David Plouffe, Senior Advisor to President Obama extended an invitation to conference members. Councilman Carn’s name was submitted and accepted by the White House.
Joe Carn was elected to College Park’s Ward II in November 2005, and ran unopposed in November 2009. He was instrumental in recent state legislation leading to the creation of a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) in College Park. Carn believes greater participation in the political process will improve the quality of life for College Park citizens.
Carn is a graduate of Leadership Studies at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He serves on the board of Concerned Black Clergy of metro Atlanta, and he’s the youngest member ever elected to the board of N.O.I.S.E., the National Organization to Insure a Sound Environment.
A devoted husband and father, Carn is the son of R&B vocalist Jean Carn. He is an accomplished author, currently working on his third book project.
