Traffic Advisory:  Sewer Repairs will Affect Cleveland Avenue Traffic

Atlanta, GA--  The Atlanta Watershed will be performing sewer repairs from February 2nd- February 8th.

"Weather permitting, city contractors will be rehabilitating sewer lines, necessitating the closure of 1 east and 1 westbound lane.  Motorists are urged to excercise caution when traveling through the work area and to use alternate routes when possible." -Atlanta Watershed

The affected lane closures will be on Cleveland Avenue between Stewart Place and 3rd Avenue, from 9am to 4pm. (excluding weekends)

College Park has been nominated by ARC - CREATE for the 2010 Local Government Innovations Award in the category of Environmental Sustainability. The award recognizes local governments that have made outstanding contributions to reduce their community’s environmental footprint in any of the following areas: energy, water, green purchasing, facility or site design/green buildings, electronic stewardship, fleet and transportation and waste prevention/recycling.

College Park developed the City of College Park Innovative Stormwater Management Program to improve stormwater quality, relieve detention pond requirements for prospective builders, and to renovate the pond located next to College Park’s Municipal golf course.

14th annual Holiday Music Series Begins at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

Share in the spirit of the holidays with live musical performances and roving carolers as the 14th annual Holiday Music Series starts tonight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. 

“Ebenezer Scrooge would never ‘bah, humbug!’ this holiday treat,” said Katherine Marbury, Airport Art Program manager. “This free, winter music series is our gift to every passenger and employee. We’re inviting everyone to enjoy these unforgettable performances across a variety of musical styles.”

The December music series will be held in the Atrium every weekday, December 13-23, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Atlanta, GA-- (submitted by the Atlanta-Airport) Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is proud to unveil the Atlanta Military Gateway youth art program to honor the many military members who pass through the world’s busiest Airport.  The new exhibit located in the north terminal features artwork created by students of Metro Atlanta schools and framed by the Rotary Club of Atlanta.

Hartsfield-Jackson unveils Global Youth Murals exhibition

Atlanta, GA--  (submitted by Atlanta Airport)  Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials joined Mary Eisenhower, president and CEO of People to People International (PTPI) and granddaughter of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, today in unveiling the Global Youth Murals exhibition. The exhibit on Concourse E is a partnership among Hartsfield-Jackson’s Airport Art Program, PTPI and the Colorful Arts Society (CAS).

“The Global Youth Murals exhibition is an exciting chance for the Airport Art Program to share the work of children from all over the world,” said Katherine Marbury, Airport Art Program manager. “It is a wonderful companion to our Youth Art Galleries, and we hope passengers find both the artwork and the message behind it meaningful as they go about their holiday travel.”

The Global Youth Murals exhibit, which consists of 15 murals created by students in 13 countries, was organized by PTPI’s Atlanta Chapter and the CAS.

Atlanta, GA--  In its latest Atrium exhibit, “The Airport Show,” Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s Art Program teamed up with the Atlanta Photography Group. The exhibit is an interesting collection of traditional, documentary-style and modern photographs.

Atlanta, GA--  Travelers at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport were surprised today by a pop-up performance from a 40-member singing, dancing flash mob promoting the grand opening of the Atlanta Airport Marriott Gateway, which is connected to the airport via the new ATL SkyTrain.
