ATLANTA -- For this week's edition of Best Spots, we have compiled a list of best places to run for beginners, intermediate and advanced runners.

Recently, running has risen in popularity due to people discovering the different benefits it offers. Running has been proven to lessen stress, aid in weight loss and can serve as a method of meditation. According to the Seattle Times, 26.5 million people in the US run 50 days out of the year.

  • Beginners Routes

The Silver Comet Trail is known as “the only truly flat place you can run in Atlanta”. The trail starts near Mavell Road in Smyrna and runs all the way to the Georgia/Alabama line, near Cedartown and Esom. The trail is a favorite among runners searching for a leisurely stroll and good scenery.

The Atlanta Dream to host a community pep rally at Greenbriar Mall tonight

College Park, GA -- The Atlanta Dream will host a community pep rally at Greenbriar Mall on June 3 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. to tip off the 2011 season.  The Atlanta Dream opens defense of its Women’s National Basketball Association Eastern Conference Championship Sunday, June 5 at 3 p.m. against the New York Liberty at Philips Arena.

The pep rally is open to the public and will feature appearances by Dream players and executives.  The event will also feature a Family Fun zone, giveaways including tickets to the opening game, and musical performances by Atlanta’s number one Rhythm and Blues singer, Carlin Taylor, the Radiance Girls Group and Norma’s Academy of Dance. Special guests will be the NCAA Division II National Champion Clayton State University Women’s basketball team.

BUCKHEAD --  The 2011 Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders made their first public appearance as a new team to celebrate the launch of their new reality TV show, New South: Making the Team with the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders.

The meet and greet party featured the cheerleaders themselves, VIP guests, and the premiere showing of the first 2 episodes. The five-episode series will then air exclusively on XFINITY On Demand from Comcast and will be available 24/7.

There were veterans in attendance, but also the rookies had the their first chance to meet fans and work the crowd.
