Fulton County Schools and Local City Governments Improve Walking and Bike Routes for Students

Atlanta, GA-- Walking and bicycling will be safer for countless students in Fulton County this school year thanks to the Georgia Department of Transportation. GDOT has selected a number of schools to receive $1.5 million in federal grant money as part of Georgia’s Safe Route to School program.

Crabapple Crossing Elementary School, Love T. Nolan Elementary School, Northwestern Middle School, Palmetto Elementary School, Sandtown Middle School, Seaborn Lee Elementary School and Summit Hill Elementary School were chosen to participate.

Partnering with Fulton County Government, the City of Milton and the City of Palmetto, students will benefit from infrastructure improvements such as the interconnection of sidewalks, crosswalk striping, improved lighting, traffic control devices, and ADA ramps.
